Kick up your wings and fly....
~unknown
The rain had just started when I walked out on the sea wall to watch The EYC sailboat race. The sky changed as I watched and the rain made everything lose its color and almost appear in black and white. This race was gonna be different because right after the start they got hit by a monster storm from the North.
What caught my attention next was the unbelievably loud sounds of the sails flapping and stretching in the wind. The wind had hit the boats before it hit me and it carried all of the collected sound with it. It was a mix of howling, snapping, and yelling all mixed in with the furor of a Tornado.
You could see and feel the struggle on the bay and hear the sailors yelling as they came close to the finish line...
Last night was a wild ride for any sailor and the win was just making it back home safe and sound.Storm stories will be told for days and every one of them will be there next week to race!
Give
me a spirit that on this life's rough sea,
loves t' have his sails filled with
a lusty wind.
