The only way
to get rid of temptation
is to yield to it.
~ Oscar Wilde
What inspires you on a daily basis?
Is it a day to waste, letting your mind call the shots by being elsewhere, or do You find the drive to make the day yours by working, exploring, and seeing what there is to discover?
My favorite book is (1,000 Places to see before You Die) by Patricia Schultz. When I first saw it years ago, it was a revelation, and I took it personally and quite literally. Since that time, I have purchased the book many times after loosing it, or loaning it. It's something I can't be without. I have a similar history with a Black Nike Running Jacket, but that's another story. I can now check off many of the 1,000 places, but can't rest knowing that so many remain.
I now know that one can spend a lifetime in the same city and see different things and even wondrous things in your own world. M & I have chosen to be travelers because we seek not only the discovery of the wondrous, but also the food, people, smells, and adventure that come with the travel package. There are those days however, when you cannot travel far, time is limited, and you need to enjoy your own back -yard. Today was one of those days,,,but,,,,do not pity me. We have two trips planned between now and July and I will reveal them as they happen.
We left at 6PM
with about an hour of light left and took a quick spin around
The picnic tables are gathering warmth and preparing to be used and abused for months to come.
The very last of the Icebergs are flowing in from the lake to find the water warming by the minute.
M insists that I attempt to photo how big his Muscles are on his shadow, but I tell him no photo could do justice to that. He seems satisfied.
The trees and birds are lit up with the first yellow warm light of summer. The photos look jazzed up and fake, but if You were here, you would see how amazing the reality is.
M & I see our shadows on the grass and know it's getting time to head home.
He insists on a few quick casts into the Trout pond where he emerged victorious the week before, but it was not to be. I capture the red, red sun dropping on the pond and we go home to the dogs, dinner, and the anticipation of tomorrow.
